Brother HL-2140 Toner
Don't rush out to buy a replacement toner. Brother is trying to rip you off, so fight back. I did some dissecting and found a little trick that will help prolong the life of your toner cartridges for your laser printer. Enjoy! and sorry about the random cell phone noises. Hope this saves some money!

Wow!! My Brother fax machine toner was going to cost $60 to replace. I was getting a “Toner Done” message. I just covered up the sensors on both sides with a cut up band-aid (since it is colored) and my fax is now working again!! Thanks so much!!!

FYI..I just did this with very clear scotch tape and didn’t work for me. I then took a little piece of white paper and covered the holes and taped it in place. That worked fine.

It seems they would make the same money if they just put less toner in and then had an honest light. Less wasteful of resources. Good to know this hack though, hope brother isn’t reading this!

Just had to do this recently…used electical tape, btw. Unless you need ultra rich sooper-black text or are doing important graphics, you should really go into the print options and put it on toner save mode..and while you’re at it put the resolution on 300dpi. For powerpoints/school papers/general office stuff it’s more than adequate. I’ve almost got 2000 pages out of the toner cartridge that came with the printer (HL 2140).

I bought the same printer and the toner did the same thing. When I called Office Depot they said that it was just a starter toner. This is a first, because they always provided a full toner. Sign of these economic times. So I had to buy a toner. I still have the old one so I will use it.
