How do you improve your running and endurance, like during the mile run?

I’d like to do well in physical education, but I totally suck at running. So does anyone have any tips on running? Like how your posture is supposed to be like or if you’re supposed to breath through your nose or your mouth. And I found that I received cramps about 2 minutes after running/jogging. How would you reduce that, i.e. like by eating something in particular or not eating/drinking at all. I’m 12 and weigh about 95-100 pounds/my height is 5′ 2″. So, anyone got any good tips on how to run at your best quality/how to run/how to endure? Thanks.

Practice, practice, practice. You’re not going to be used to running the first few days but overtime you’ll get the hang of it. Drink lots of water : )

Find a breathing rhythm that works for you. At my regular pace I breath in for four steps and out for four steps. The other thing I would advise, and this is HUGE, is to stay hydrated. Hydrate all day long the day before and day of a race.

So… your 12 right your probably in Middle School having to do a mile run daily to practice for the physical fitness test. I have resources that tell me you have to run in about 13-14minutes MAX. My advice is to keep running and don’t i repeat do NOT stop running until you finish. It may seem weird, but running then walking then running gives you a cramp which slows you down tremendously. So do not walk while running. Also jog then jog faster then run to get momentum so you don’t waste alot of energy to get a fast start.

unfortunately there is no quick fix but to run. but you can try other things like the elliptical, stair stepper, bike etc. they could aid in endurance as well.
